"I asked Shelly if she could stop by and discuss cloth diapering with me. I also invited a friend who was interested. Shelly presented us with a workshop quality consultation! It was concise yet very informative. She brought examples of different diaper options and taught us how to use them, including diaper folding. She educated us on the benefits of cloth diapering, but was also honest when discussing possible drawbacks. She brought a printout for us of clearly organized information about many aspects of diaper use and care, and went over it with us, answering any questions we had. She also provided us with internet resources and made herself available to us if we should ever need her. It was fantastic. She was encouraging without being pushy. "From a father-to-be's perspective, going through the birthing experience without a doula would be unthinkable. In working with Shelly, she provided the much needed insight, support and counsel that my wife and I needed before, during and after the birth process. Unlike anything else in life, what you read about "having a baby" and actually supporting a woman through the process are two different things. Reading and attending classes does not prepare one for this event, and this is where the doula comes in.

During the contractions, Shelly was able to relieve my wife's pains through acupressure and massage. She counseled us through a very difficult birthing process, letting us know what our options were every step of the way. It was essential to have another person in the room with my wife, as I needed to telephone nervous family members to ask for help. Simply how Shelly held the energy in the room made all the difference with my wife and I. She has a calming presence that is unlike anyone I have ever met and can say that she is really doing amazing work. I highly recommend Shelly - do not go through the birthing process without her!"
