directed to the public to promote CNMs for well woman care from the

The event includes a film festival from 10 to 3pm on Saturday, May 24th.

MA Friends of Midwives is sponsoring this film festival with Our

"If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it."

A Doula...

...offers you and your partner continuous support and encouragement throughout your labor and birth.

...offers effective, non-medical comfort measures designed to ease your labor.

...respects and honors your decisions regarding your labor and works closely with you to help you achieve your ideal birth.

A Doula's Presence At Birth...
...can result in fewer requests for pain medication

...can result in shorter births, especially for first time moms

....can result in less complications and less interventions, such as the use of pitocin, forceps and vacuum extraction, and cesarean surgery.

Accupuncture Helps Relieve Back Pain During Pregnancy.

According to the study authors, “Acupuncture, as an adjunct to standard treatment, was superior to standard treatment alone and physiotherapy in relieving mixed pelvic/back pain. Women with well-defined pelvic pain had greater relief of pain with a combination of acupuncture and standard treatment, compared to standard treatment alone or stabilizing exercises and standard treatment.”
